Absolute mode with Sync Value and Logic Controller Assignments

Hi,

I’m using an EN16 Series 3 with Logic Pro via Controller Assignments.

I’ve noticed something that I’m hoping someone can clarify.

What works

  • Absolute mode controls plugin parameters correctly.
  • Logic sends MIDI feedback back to the EN16.
  • I can verify this because the Grid Editor MIDI Monitor receives the CC messages whenever I move a plugin parameter with the mouse in Logic.
  • “Sync value” is enabled.

The problem

Even though the EN16 receives the updated MIDI value, the encoder does not seem to synchronize its internal value.

For example:

  1. Turn the encoder to set the parameter to 20%.
  2. Move the plugin parameter with the mouse to 80%.
  3. Grid Editor shows the incoming MIDI feedback from Logic.
  4. Turn the encoder again.

Instead of continuing smoothly from 80%, the parameter jumps toward the encoder’s previous position.

My question

Is Sync value supposed to update the encoder’s internal absolute value so that Absolute mode stays synchronized with incoming MIDI feedback?

Or is Sync value only intended for display/feedback purposes?

If it should synchronize the encoder, is there another setting required, or could this be a firmware issue?

Thanks!
