Hey I have a question about sending plain old keyboard key strokes into iPad. I made a config, where I’m able to send whatever keys I want into any of my PCs, but for some reason my iPad (with the usb-c) doesn’t recognize those commands at all. It powers the device and I use the same cables I’ve used with the PC, so it’s not the cable. Any ideas why this seems not working? I’ve understood that all the Grid Controllers should work with iPad as well, but… is it only MIDI? Or am I missing something that the iPad needs in the script in order to understand these key strokes? I’ve set it up different ways and none of them seem to work in my iPad.
Hi!
Well, the iPad should properly communicate to Grid as well, not sure why it’s not seeing it as a keyboard. Usually when plugged in you can see the device in the iPad settings somewhere.
The best idea to test if the connection is actually there is to try and see if MIDI works at all. If not then the connection is only for power for some reason. I’ll also ask around. Which generation of iPad is it?
The iPad is the latest baseline iPad (A16), so “11th gen” I guess. MIDI works and I can see the Grid module in both Drambo and Cubasis, and I can map there stuff using MIDI Learn. Also all the other keyboards I own work with it via USB-C, also with the exact same cables.
