Grid Editor confusion

I’m struggling learning how to use Grid Editor, but slowly making progress.

I’m sure the grid editor is a very powerful and flexible program combined with the modules. And there is quite a bit of documentation on using it. However, as a non-programmer and noob to the editor, I still find it confusing and very non-intuitive to use. I’m guessing half the time where and what things are, and constantly losing progress that I’ve made without having the slightest clue as to why. And I’m fairly intelligent and not a luddite. It’s frustrating.

Are there tutorials that really go in depth and assume the user is a total beginner to the editor? I haven’t found them yet. And it would be great if the user interface could be redone to make it more intuitive. Doing so would open up the Intech products to a larger audience. I can’t be the first to make these observations and suggestions, am I?

I am not sure where to go to find examples of programming the encoder. On Grid, trying to program the VSN1 encoder, if I click on the encoder on the editor to select it, the editor will after a few seconds select the first button. I don’t have to touch anything for it to change selections. Is this behavior normal? I just want to move a cursor left and right in Dorico composing software but when it works, i can’t control the speed of the keystrokes so i barely touch the encoder and the caret will move many measures left or right. How do i make the caret move one note at a time?
