is it normal for there to be a nonstop flow of “raw packet” data streaming in the debugging window even when you’re not moving any controls? what is this “raw packet” data? hopefully nothing I need to worry about, LoL… thanks in advance for any helpful info!
Hi, there is constant communication between the modules and the grid editor this is completely normal. The main type of messages that are sent in the background are:
- Heartbeat (Grid to Editor): Allows the editor to detect newly connected modules and remove disconnected ones from the UI automatically
- Heartbeat (Editor to Grid): Tells the modules that the Grid Editor is running. This is used to detect when element positions, element names and led data report is needed.
- Lua configuration (Grid to Editor) Editor pre-fetches the configuration from the modules in the background to allow faster profile save/load operations later!
These are the main message types that are automatically sent!
I figured, but being new to the ecosystem, & buying the units used, just wanted to be sure, thank you for the clarification! Looking forward to purchasing a couple more units & having lots of fun! w00t w00t!
This is great news, what generation of controllers did you get? If not the earliest ones then you’ll most likely be able to get upgrade parts for it! Either way they will be compatible with new ones, all generations are!
