On Saturday night my button controller took half a pint of Guiness to the face. It was an unfortunate mistake where the wonderful bar person put the pint where I couldn’t see it and where the latch of the booth would knock it over when I entered.
I wiped it down and turned it upside down for a bit, but I kinda needed to keep using it so I did. It didn’t initially exhibit any symptoms, but after a little while the LEDs started going a bit mental, so I unplugged it and left it sat upside down on some tissue for the rest of the night.
Yesterday I took the faceplate off and just went to town with IPA and a brush. I have to say I can see why they’re so damn expensive, that thing looks incredibly well built.
Anyway I have it plugged in and am watching for any odd behaviours. So far so good.
Moral of the story: keep alcohol out of the DJ booth. Will I heed this moral? God no my karaoke hosting shift is 7hrs long without breaks. I need my Guiness.
Oh yeah if you’re curious about how to get the face plate off, it’s easy:
- remove the four philips screws on each corner of the faceplate
- scrabble around with your fingernals trying to get it off
- head upstairs to find a spudger
- hear your daughter say “oops. Well I guess he was trying to get it off”
- Ask what she did and hear that she turned it upside down and it fell off
- commend her obviously superior technical skills
