S3.EF44 Controller bought at Thomann not in compliance with pictures on Intech site

I recently bought a Series 3 EF44 Detent controller from thomann.dk.

However, everything looks different from the pictures from Intech Studio’s own site. Even the pictures on Thomann look different! Screws are not recessed. Case is more or less transparent (not black), and the whole build quality just seems flimsy to me.

I have contacted Thomann about the issue and await a response. Could it be a non-genuine article maybe?

I’m a little frustrated here because there doesn’t seem to be a way for me to contact the devs at Intech Studio.

I don’t mean to be rude but when I pay this amount of money for something I expect it to adhere to a certain standard.

Hi there,

We’re usually pretty quick to respond on the [email protected] mail or on Discord. I would say we’re pretty active here on the forums as well.

First of all, the module is genuine. It is a Series 3 EF44 module made by Intech Studio.

The render on Thomann does show recessed screws, this is a mistake on our part it seems. We did change the final design to panhead screws as you can see on the other photos from Thomann.

We’ve been using see-through, grey-ish ABS plastic for the product housing for about half a year now, this has not been a new change, but renders don’t really do it justice. It becomes see-through in strong lighting (like in your overexposed photo) but becomes almost black in shadow (quick photo of a module on my desk as an example).

In any case if you’re not satisfied with the quality of the module, please reach out to Thomann or to us through official channels and we’ll be able to help you there.

Yeah. What do I know? I can’t even manage to take a photo in correct exposure. I would love to get in contact with you through the ‘proper’ channels except I’m too stupid to find the link to you hotline on you official sitemap.

Again, that linktree does not provide a link to a support mail.

It’s just

but it really is not included in our linktree, we’ll add it in the future, thanks!

Thank you! Well, my pin number to my bank card is only 4 digits but to someone who doesn’t know them…
