Shorting pins via metal surface

One of my grid modules sits right next to a synth with metal case.

Both surfaces are in parallel, and the module’s magnets make it cling to the synth, shorting the pins.

Do I have to worry about malfunctions, or is this cared for in the electronics, disabling shorted circuits?

My best idea would be to cover the module’s side with tape, maybe with a piece of tissue on the contacts to not cover them in adhesive.

Each interface board is equipped with a small magnet next to a hal sensor. In theory, an interface board should only activate, when it detects the magnetic field of an other interface board, so an other module’s side. There are other circuit protection practices in place as well, so the module should be protected from the case you wrote.

But, as with all consumer electronic products, it’s better safe than sorry. A bit of tape on the unused side might be handy, just as you wrote.

And yes, like you said: better be safe, I taped that side up in the meantime :slight_smile:
